Tayo namang mga evangelical Christians, we are quick to condemn the Roman Catholics. Tapos tingin natin tayo ang righteous, tayo ang sumusunod sa second commandment. Tama nga na ipaliwanag din natin sa kanila how they violate God's commands, pero hindi sa paraang ipinamumukha natin sa kanila na tayo ang lawkeepers. Ang tanong, nakasunod ba tayo sa second commandment?
Ang Unang Utos
Heto ang una, at siyang pinakamahalaga sa sampung utos, "Huwag kang sasamba sa ibang diyos, maliban sa akin." Makikita mong paulit-ulit ang ganyang utos all throughout the Old Testament. Para tayong mga batang ayaw makinig, ang hinang umintindi, at matigas ang ulo. Sa New Testament, valid pa rin 'yang command na 'yan. As long as God is God, that command remains in place. Walang amendment, walang charter change. "Mga anak, lumayo kayo sa mga diyus-diyosan" (1 Jn. 5:21). "Kaya nga, mga minamahal, huwag kayong sasamba sa mga diyus-diyosan" (1 Cor. 10:14).
When ministry becomes your god
In our obedience we don’t pin our hope on better results. We don’t find satisfaction in church attendance. We don’t calibrate faithfulness to His word to an individual’s performance. Rather, we view obedience as a grateful response to God’s initiating love.
