One of the things we ask when we pray, “Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven,” is for God’s will to be revealed to us. But we must remember that God reveals his will to us not for that revealed will to be considered but to be obeyed. Our Teacher of this prayer is also our great example in doing the will of God,
“For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me” (John 6:38).
