The kingdom of God is now here, but not yet here. We are now seeing evidences of God’s rule in the lives of his people and through his people. But “greater things have yet to come.” Christ will come again to bring the kingdom of God to its fullness, to make it manifest in all its glory and power. It is when “the kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever” (Rev. 11:15). Between now and that future reign of Christ, we, however, will not just wait passively. We believe that “greater things are still to be done.” One greater thing to do is to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
