We need to recover a radically God-centered biblical worldview. Kaya mahalagang balikan at pag-aralang mabuti ang five solas ng 16th century Protestant Reformation. Doctrinal, pero practical din. Historical, pero napapanahon pa rin. At higit sa lahat, ang five solas ay biblical. What is at stake here is the gospel itself. Kailangang-kailangan natin ngayon ng rediscovery of the gospel in our churches. We need a modern Reformation.
Ito ang unang librong nabasa ko na sinulat sa “Latinaglish.” Ang mga salitang Latin gaya ng sola Scriptura, solus Christus, sola gratia, sola fide, at soli Deo gloria ay unang ginamit noong 16th century ng mga Protestante sa Europa bilang mga slogans to summarize the gospel. At ang five solas na ito ay detalyadong ipinaliwanag ni Derick (kasama sina Eric at John) sa conversational Tagalog at English. Hindi technical ang pagkakasulat, pero malalim. Natuwa ako na marami sa mga quotations ay hango sa mga isinulat ng mga kilalang authors at theologians katulad nina James Boice, Wayne Grudem, RC Sproul, John Piper, Paul Tripp, Steve Lawson at iba pa. Sila ay nagbibigay ng suporta na solid at maayos ang mga doktrinang mapupulot natin mula sa librong ito. Subalit ang pinaka-nagustuhan ko ay ang napaka-biblical at practical na mga nilalaman ng bawat chapter. Lalong lumalim ang pagtingin ko sa Salita ng Diyos, lumawak ang pagkamangha ko sa ebanghelyo, at uminit ang pagsamba ko sa ating Diyos. Isang karangalan na aking irekomenda sa lahat ng mga Pilipinong Kristiyano ang Five Solas, One Gospel. Sana’y noon pa ito nalathala. Dapat itong basahin ng lahat ng gustong mas maunawaan pa ang totoong gospel.
