“The Word Made Flesh” (w/ Tagalog version)

Last year, Ligonier Ministries released “The Word Made Flesh”: The Ligonier Statement on Christology. Ligonier founder and Bible teacher R. C. Sproul explains why:

Who is Jesus Christ? Nearly every adult person has formed some opinion of Jesus. These opinions may be superficial, uninformed, or downright heretical. The truth about Jesus, not mere opinion, matters . . . and it matters eternally.

Those who bear the name Christian profess to follow Christ as His disciples. They hold a Christology—a doctrine of Christ—that reflects their view of Christ. This Christology may be articulated implicitly or explicitly. It may represent the depth of biblical revelation and historic Christian reflection on Scripture, or it may be novel and disconnected from God’s Word. But no professing Christian lacks a Christology. (Read the full preface here.)

You can read the full statement here.

Here’s my Filipino version of that statement (suggestions for improvement are welcome!):

Ipinapahayag namin na mahiwaga at kamangha-manghang
     ang Diyos ay naging tao.
At nagagalak kami sa dakilang kaligtasang
kaloob ni Jesu-Cristo na ating Panginoon.
Kasama ng Ama at ng Espiritu Santo
nilikha ng Anak ang lahat ng bagay,
     pinapanatili ang lahat ng bagay,
at binabago ang lahat ng bagay.
     Dalawang kalikasan –
tunay na Diyos at tunay na tao
     – sa iisang persona.
Siya’y ipinanganak ng Birheng Maria
     at namuhay na kasama natin.
Ipinako sa krus, namatay, at inilibing,
     muling nabuhay sa ikatlong araw,
     umakyat sa langit,
     at sa kanyang pagbabalik
     Siya’y nababalot ng karangalan
     at dala-dala ang katarungan.
Para sa atin,
     tinupad Niya ang Kautusan,
     binayaran ang kasalanan,
at pinawi ang galit ng Diyos.
Kinuha niya ang suot nating maruming basahan
at pinalitan ng balabal ng kanyang katuwiran.
Siya ang ating Propeta, Pari, at Hari,
     itinatayo ang Kanyang iglesiya,
     namamagitan para sa atin,
at namamahala sa lahat ng bagay.
Si Jesu-Cristo ang Panginoon;
purihin natin ang banal Niyang Pangalan magpakailanman.
Amen.
