But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith (1 Tim. 6:11-12 ESV).
Ang mga salitang ito ay hindi lang para sa ibang mga members ng church. Para din sa akin ‘to. Pastor ako, pero member din naman ako ng church! Isa rin ako sa mga tupang kailangang may magpastol at mag-alaga! Tulad ako ni Timothy, na isa ring pastor, isang “lingkod ng Dios” (v. 11), na sinabihan ni Pablo na makipaglaban sa kasalanan at para sa pananampalataya.
At kahit na ako ay isang pastor, tinitingala ng maraming tao, ginagawang huwaran ng mga taong nakakakilala sa akin, I also have my share of struggles. In fact, I have plenty of struggles.
Nasa grade school pa lang ako nang maging Cristiano. Pero hindi ibig sabihing okay na ang puso ko simula noon. Mula sa teenage years ko hanggang sa early years of our marriage and my pastoral ministry, hirap na hirap ako sa struggle ko sa pornography at lustful thoughts. Ginamit ng Dios ang asawa ko at ang ministry ng Living Waters Philippines para magsimulang aminin ko na kailangan ko ang iba sa pakikipaglabang ito. Hindi ko kayang mag-isa.
Nagkaroon ako ng significant breakthrough sa relasyon ko sa Panginoon. Pero hindi pa tapos. I still need to fight the remaining lust, pride and selfishness in my heart. Kailangan ko pang matutunan kung paano maging buong puso ang pagmamahal sa asawa ko, mga anak ko, sa mga kapamilya ko, sa church na ibinigay sa akin ng Panginoon para paglingkuran, at sa mga taong di pa nakakakilala sa Panginoon.
Sinasabi ng Dios sa akin, “Derick, anak ko, lumaban ka. Patayin mo ang mga natitira pang kahalayan sa isip at puso mo. Patayin mo ang natitira pang pride sa puso mo, pati ang self-righteousness, self-reliance, at anu pa mang selfishness. Fight the good fight of faith!”
This book is for all Christians who are struggling against sin and struggling to trust the only Savior of their soul. That means it’s for all of us.

Hello po pastor. Thank you for sharing this book to us. Ito din yung isa sa makakatulong for me on how to fight the good fight of faith towards God po which is leading and pointing to follow Jesus Christ. Need ko po to ngayon as i am struggling din with lustful thoughts and selfishness and other things which is not good.
