Part 14: Lord of All

The story of Luke 8:22-39 ends with Jesus’ command to the man healed from demon-possession and his immediate obedience:

“Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him. (Luke 8:39 ESV)

In our church, we believe that since Jesus is Lord of all, he is also commanding us to tell his story to others. If we are followers of Jesus, then there is no other response but to obey. We don’t wait for new believers to mature before they are trained to tell “The Story of God” to others. They were trained immediately after they profess faith in Christ so that they can immediately obey Jesus’ command to tell the Story to others.

By doing this, we are seeing our members as young as 10 and as old as 75 tell God’s Story to their family and friends – even as far as another province. Like the man previously possessed by demons but now possessed by the love of Jesus who “proclaimed throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him.”

If we know who Jesus is and if we experienced his life-transforming power and grace, then telling his Story to others would never be a burden but a joy.
